Golden Retrievers are one of the most common domestic dogs. Here are some advantages and disadvantages of owning a Golden Retriever

Advantages of owning a Golden Retriever

Golden Retrievers are known for their simplicity. They have good physical qualities and are not prone to illnesses. They are suitable for home use. As long as they have regular physical examinations, daily care, and a proper diet, they can basically be raised well. Golden Retrievers are famous for their “warm hearts” and are known as “warm big men.” They are gentle and enthusiastic every day. They understand their owners well and even help them with housework.

Disadvantages of owning a Golden Retriever

Golden Retrievers are a non-aggressive breed. They are relatively gentle, whether towards their owners or others, even strangers. However, this trait also has some negative aspects. If they are too gentle, they can easily be kidnapped, so you can easily lose a dog. Golden Retrievers have golden hair and high appearance value, but behind the beauty lies a “pain.” That is, shedding is very serious, especially during seasonal changes, which causes many pet owners to suffer headaches. Dog hair is everywhere in the house, and every piece of clothing has dog hair on it.

Breeding methods for Golden Retriever puppies

  1. Before mating, both male and female dogs should be given health checks to prevent disease infections. Deworming should be performed on the female dog, and its nutrition should be properly increased. Before breeding, the male dog should not be fed too much to avoid reflex vomiting. The breeding time should be chosen when both dogs are in the best mental state, preferably in the early morning. The breeding location should be at the female dog’s feeding place or a relatively quiet place. Apart from relevant personnel supervising the scene, onlookers should be avoided as much as possible to prevent any disturbances. Before mating, the dogs should be allowed to roam freely and defecate.

  2. Generally, large female dogs can start breeding after two years. However, nowadays, many dogs start breeding during their second estrus. Few people know until what age a female Golden Retriever retains its reproductive ability. Generally speaking, both male and female dogs can be used for breeding for about 7-8 years.
